And anybody else who wants to help. I need beer advice.
I turned 21 about a month ago. As a college student, I've been drinking for ~3 years now, mostly vodka, because I have fun infusing it with different fruits. Now that I can easily access beer of better quality than the normal college swill, I need help finding some of the better stuff.
I know I'm not an IPA fan, the Dogfish head 90 Minute confirmed this for me (on top of a few others).
I've found (through my limited experimentation) that I'm definitely a fan of Belgian Whites (ala Blue moon), particularly the Agave Nectar Ale. I have a sweet-tooth for sure.
Any suggestions? I'm in Massachusetts if that helps

NOT A FAN OF IPAS! Blasphemy, try something not so strong, it's been a while but the sierra nevada IPA is not as hoppy I think. But being in mass grab some steel rail from BBC. There are many others but drinking a molson right now doesn't really harness my beer snob-abilities (Hey, free beer. can't turn that down)

Since we're on Oppo, I recommend this.
Or if you really want to get crazy, this.

Shhhh don't oust me for enjoying shitty beers. I will say that Keystone is exponentially worse than the likes of molson, budweiser, and other similar beers. Also, labatt is the best worst beer, that is if you are in at least the NY area. My buddies in Texas for the army say it is ungodly horrible down there

If Belgian whites are what you like, Hoegaarden is fantastic and widely available.
I would also recommend checking out Hefeweizens. Fanziskaner is pretty solid. So is Schneider Weisse. I would recommend checking out some dunkel (dark) hefes too.

One of my favourite Weißbiers is Erdinger. Give it a try if you can find it. It's a very clean drinking, refreshing beer with good flavour.

If he can get PaulAner, I tend to prefer it over Hoegaarden. Second the Franziskaner, though oddly Franziskaner dark didn't come off well the 2-3 times I've had it.

I actually agree with you on the Paulaner over Hoegaarden. I recommended the Hoegasrden because I know so many people that swear by it. It is one of my wife's favorites - she calls it "the lemonade of beers" because it is so drinkable.
I haven't actually had Franziskaner dark. Schneider Weisse and Erdinger's darks are the ones I have had, and I like them both a lot.

My roommate is from upstate NY, my fridge is occasionally stocked with labatt blue. I don't dislike it, although i don't recommend playing drinking games with it

The somewhat mint-like "zing" of Franziskaner just doesn't come out in the dark, for some reason - it almost comes off like a bitter or a Franziskaner that's been allowed to go off. For heavier beers that aren't as smooth as a Belgian, he might also try a Koelsh. Gaffel tends to be the easiest to find.
If non-german, he might try a Leinenkugel of one kind or another. Most are probably closer to Belgians despite german Wisconsonian heritage - the trend toward sweetness/smoothness mostly. Sunset Wheat is worth a try by anybody.

Here's the thing, young brother: we can tell you all the microbrews in the world that we THINK you would like. But part of the fun about learning your beer preference is TRYING a shit ton (technical term) of different beers until you find out what you truly like.
I will not suggest any one beer. However, I WILL suggest that you go with a couple of friends to the nearest pub that has a wide variety of beers on tap and start going through them, one by one (three to four beers per visit, no one likes a lush). Do this once per week to avoid financial drain and alcoholism. I wish you luck and a healthy buzz.

Thank you for pointing me in the direction of this list. I had hoped there was something of the sort floating around, but wasn't sure if it existed.

Remember with any German that Reinheitsgebot means there aren't preservatives or anything funny - unless it's an export, sometimes. Some Germans export well, some don't, and there are some that just aren't as good for the trip or are highly variable. Franziskaner can be better or worse depending, I've usually had better luck with brown bottle over green. Paulaner is pretty reliable. Hoegaarden varies a bit, but generally does okay.

Looks like Oppo has you covered. Best advice I've got is "try everything". You'll do best if you can find a shop where you can buy singles. And just start trying as many different beers as you can. And take notes. Use Untappd or some other app to rate beers. Be honest, don't try to impress anyone. Just keep your opinions in mind.
